If you or your family are ever in an emergency situation,
“Don’t Panic”.
People can survive three days without food or water. Your home can take three hours or more to cool off completely in the winter. Think of any special needs your family might have and include them and any other items you need. No one wants to be in an emergency situation, but worse no one should ever be unprepared.
Have at least a three day supply of food and water. Choose ready-to-eat or canned foods that don’t need refrigeration. Keep in mind if the utilities are out you have no stove for heating or cooking. If it's a power outage a backyard barbeque can be used. It's best to should select foods that don't require cooking.

The media centre will be the site for news conferences and briefings. Briefings are usually conducted by the community spokesperson and coordinated by the emergency information officer and are used to provide current information on the emergency. Briefings are held whenever there is new information to report or to bring newly arriving, media up-to date on the situation. To keep your family abreast of the situation you can turn your radio or TV to one of the stations listed in your area.
