Length: 7.5 Feet (2.3 Metres)
Tweed now has it's own chicken no one knows when it was built nor when it was erected
in front of a store in tweed. Like Tweed's fire hydrants it's one of Tweeds many things to see
and do when your in Tweed. He's kind of cute and even the fire hydrants the firemen have no
trouble finding their normally red but now so decoratively painted to add color and style to Tweed.

Enjoying the Eastern Ontario Trails system
In September 1997 the Hastings/Quinte/Land o’ Lakes Recreational Steering Committee was formed as a vehicle for bringing together people and groups who had an interest in developing a regional trails network. Representatives were from area municipalities, various trail groups, Chamber of Commerce, Conservation Authorities, and individuals. This umbrella trails group was renamed the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance in the spring of 1998.
The Organization was incorporated in 1999 under the mandate provided to it by the Province of Ontario and various Municipal Corporations of Eastern Ontario (Goals and Objectives). Thanks to funding sources and partners, the Alliance has completed an inventory of abandoned rail lines and existing trails; involvement of landowners; an overall strategic Master Plan; a management plan for future operation, maintenance and marketing of the trails network; identified economic opportunities relating to trails and tourism; the creation of jobs and the production of a tourism trail map and internet web site.

Bridgewater Retreat
Since 1963, Bridgewater Retreat, formerly known as Schneider School of Fine Arts, has primarily been an art school and art retreat. Our rustic and natural setting has also allowed us to play host to a variety of other groups and special events such as: overnighters, weekend getaways, family reunions, small weddings, yoga, writers, poets, religious, health & wellness, spiritual, photographers, kayakers, canoeing, professional speakers, martial arts, quilters, crafters, drummers, weavers, potters, sculptors and other groups.
For a weekend getaway or week long escape, we invite you to gather up your friends, families, whatever your group, and come spend some quality time nestled away from the world outside. If you're looking for a cozy, rustic setting to get away to rest, unwind, relax and rejuvenate yourself, Bridgewater Retreat is the place to be.
History of the Bridgewater Retreat
Bridgewater Retreat was originally named Schneider School of Fine Arts. The original founder's were Mary Schneider, Roman Schneider, Joicey M. Horne, H. Donald Langhorn, Q.C. Muriel Spitzer and Tom Wrigglesworth. The school was founded in 1963 and has continued to operate primarily as an Art School and Retreat. Through the years Bridgewater has played host to many other groups and special events.
The 1820's Log Home centrally located amongst the cabins was originally from the Queensborough area. The Riverfront 1850's log home comes from a property near Tweed built by the Rashotte family 1855.
These homes were moved and rebuilt on the property in 1962 by crews skilled in this kind of operation. The same crews erected the cabins which were purchased as kits from British Columbia. They were assembled in the spring of 1963 in preparation for the grand opening by the Governor General.
Take a class at Bridgewater or spend the night and experience the history for yourself.
