The Ontario 4-H Program is about opportunities, personal development, making friends, and having fun. 4-H helps young people (10-21 years of age) learn self-confidence and new skills. Members also learn communication and leadership skills, problem solving, and goal setting. 4-H Ontario Members can choose to be involved in any of over 60 different projects, ranging from drama to woodworking, life skills to livestock, and square dancing to conservation.
Who can belong to a 4-H club?
Youth aged 10 to 21 before January 1st. of this year, are eligible to be a member. A 4-H club consists of a screened volunteer (18 years or older), and six eligible 4-H Ontario members.

Quin-Mo-Lac is owned and operated by the Bay of Quinte Conference Camp Corporation of the United Church of Canada. It is situated on 240 acres of woods, open fields, nature trails and a mile-and-a-quarter of shoreline on Moira Lake. Quin-Mo-Lac installed a beautiful 30 x 70 pool during the summer of 2005. This new program area to the camp community has proven to be a valuable addition to all sectors of camp life and added significantly to the health and safety of our program delivery.
The rich heritage of this camp continues to foster a dedicated staff of young people. Most of the staff are young people who have come through the Quin-Mo-Lac system as Campers, Counsellors-in-Training and Volunteers eventually becoming Staff Counsellors & Program people. The Director, Mr. Wendell White, has been with the camp since 1981 and strives for excellence in a staff which cares about children. The mandate of the camp is "to encourage in a year round setting, the development of skills for living with others in a community which fosters growth in Christian faith and service". As each child comes to camp, it is intentional that they be part of an active and vital caring community of young people.

Our Mission
Kerry’s Place Autism Services is committed to enhancing the quality of life of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, through innovative personalized supports, expertise, collaboration and advocacy.
Our History
The Kerry’s Place organization was established in 1974 by a group of parents who were increasingly frustrated by a lack of understanding and support service for their children with autism. Generally regarded as hopelessly retarded or schizophrenic, children with autism were often given a life sentence of institutionalization and chemical sedation. The founding parents of Kerry’s Place refused to accept the discouraging prognoses of professionals as certain.
With support from the Ministry of Health, the parent group founded Kerry’s Place, a residential home for teenagers with autism, at Clarksburg, Ontario. By emphasizing a consistent, individualized approach, the development of communication and life skills and as much integration as possible in normal family and community life, the caring staff of Kerry’s Place shattered previously held expectations and have gone on to pioneer exciting new horizons of personal growth, independence and meaningful living for people with autism everywhere.
The affairs of Kerry’s Place Autism Services are directed by a voluntary board of directors representing various fields of expertise. They view community involvement as an integral part of its philosophy and strategic planning. The board of directors is made up of a diverse group of individuals who bring with them the experience and knowledge in areas such as finance, journalism, education, business, law and human resources.

The Growth Of The Kerry’s Place Organization
In the early 1970's, a group of concerned parents and professionals from the newly formed Ontario Society for Autistic Children were concerned that the needs of persons with autism approaching adolescence and adulthood were not being met in the educational or residential systems for the mentally handicapped. Out of this concern, Kerry’s Place was incorporated in 1984 as a non-profit, non-share Ontario corporation.
In September 1974, Kerry’s Place opened its adolescent program for 11 teenagers in Clarksburg, Ontario on the farm of Val and Ann O’Neill. The program and corporate name were chosen in honour of the O’Neill’s daughter Kerry, who was one of the original residents. Nearly three decades after the opening of the Clarksburg centre, Kerry’s Place Autism Services’ has grown to serve the regions of Peel/Halton, Dufferin, Durham, York/Simcoe, Toronto and Hastings.
With the addition of community outreach services, Kerry’s Place Autism Services has been able to provide support and consultation to individuals with autism who live at home. Community outreach service allows us to serve not only a greater number of individuals but also allows us to serve a wider age range of persons than our residential component could possibly accommodate.

Community Care for Central Hastings is a non-profit volunteer based agency for seniors and adults with physical disabilities. We strive to provide programs and services that assist our clients to reside in their own homes and improve the quality of life by assisting them in better utilizing community resources.General Eligibility Criteria
60 or over with dependencies related to: the aging process; a previous illness or injury; a sustained or periodic impairment; or a physical disability.
Under 60 who have a permanent physical disability and require physical assistance with activities of daily living, in order to accomplish such tasks safely and within a reasonable time.
Eligibility for services based upon assessed need.
Services that are provided, are intended to help the people receiving support with activities of daily living to maintain their independence in the community.
The principal full-time residence of the consumer should be located in Central Hastings.
Other individuals may be accepted on referral from other programs or agencies at the discretion of the agency Executive Director.
Services will not be provided to people with a developmental handicap.
Clients must be accessed for program eligibility for the following ongoing services:
Programs offered to seniors in the community which require the support of volunteers.
* Meals on Wheels- food preparers, drivers and assistance coordinating Socials
* Line Dancing Luncheon Assistance
* Friendly Active Living Instructors for low impact exercise.
* Income Tax Preparation - after receiving instruction from a Revenue Canada Tax Agent
* Home Help and Maintenance - a brokered program to assist clients with indoor and outdoor home maintenance
* Reassurance Calls to clients, providing a friendly voice and reassurance
* Friendly Visiting to clients, to spend time with an isolated senior or physically disabled adult.
* Transportation, driving clients both long and short distances to appointments, shopping and social activities.
* Diners Club, assist in preparing, serving, cleanup of meals. Entertainers are always appreciated for these events.
* Hidden Treasures, is our retail outlet for slightly loved items. We welcome volunteers to assist at the store and donations are always gladly excepted with a few exceptions.
* Office- assistance in any number of tasks
* Board Members- to support the agency mission and objectives
* Foundation Members- to assist the agency in activities and fundraising

Tweed is home to a variety of Service Club organizations catering to all age groups from Infant to Adult. Listed are the Service Clubs and Organizations in Tweed. Communities need organizations such as these, without service clubs and charitable organizations people in the community loose a great deal. These clubs are contrived of men and women in your community volunteering their time and services to help those in need. Sadly we don't realizing how important their services are till we need them. They're always available to help day and night. Give generously help these charitable organizations continue to do the wonderful work they do.
